Back haul

Back haul. This may be a diversion for a tanker to move cargo on the return leg of a voyage in order to minimise the ballast mileage.

For example, a tanker may proceed from the Caribbean to North Europe and back directly (with a longer ballast leg) or via the Mediterranean and a port in the United States North of Cape atteras (USNH) with a cargo on board.
